PROFILE
The history of the farm is linked, of course, to that of the family of the Leopardi counts, which boasts very ancient origins, according to which it arrived in Italy from Byzantium, with the Teutonic knights, in the middle of the fourth century AD, first in Sicily and then in Rome. One of his representatives, Leopardo de’ Leopardi, was sent by Pope Innocent I and appointed first bishop of Auximum, today’s Osimo, an ancient town of Piceno origin, in which pagan rites boiled. The Bishop managed to convert his citizenship, but he paid for his successes with martyrdom, which took place in the year 405 A.D. (in the image on the left, the Roman sarcophagus in which the remains of the Saint are preserved, in the crypt of the Cathedral of Osimo).
The company’s cellar, in the last hundred years, has changed its location three times. In fact, at the end of the fifties, the historic and large cellar of Osimo was closed, due to the irreparable war damage suffered by the sixteenth-century family palace, in whose basements it was inserted.
