PROFILE
Zaccagnini is located in Staffolo, a small town in the province of Ancona. Mario Zaccagnini created the company in 1970 and today manages it together with his daughter, to whom he has transmitted his values.
Mario started the journey as a nature-loving entrepreneur and not a wine connoisseur. This required a growth full of sacrifices and study, which led to success thanks to passion and tenacity.
The company grows its vineyards in the eastern part of the Marche region. The plants are 450 meters high and enjoy the air coming from the Adriatic Sea. The proximity to the sea and the traces of the salt quarries, which were present in these areas, also give a good flavor to the soils already rich in minerals. This mix of elements contributes to the birth of grapes with an intense and particular flavor.
Zaccagnini uses certified organic farming methods. The protection of plants from weeds is done by manual weeding. Pruning is done carefully to contain the number of bunches per sling and to bring air and light to the fruits.
With manual harvesting, only healthy bunches are selected, which are immediately brought to the nearby cellar. This means that healthy and fresh fruits go into processing, for which it is not necessary to use chemical adjustments.
The flagship of the company’s wines are those produced with Verdicchio grapes. This native grape from the Marche region is used to produce firm white wines and sparkling wines of the highest quality, which can support very long aging.
