Profile
Loro Piceno is located on the top of a hill in a slight slope, in an area between Macerata and San Ginesio, south of the Fiastra stream.
The historic center has remained almost intact, with the only exception of the area located on the edge of the Castle of the Lords of Them ( improperly called the Castle of the Brunforte Accounts), near Porta Pia, affected by a building intervention in the eighties of the twentieth century.
Loro Piceno is the home of vin cotto; this is also confirmed by the fact that in the noble and manor buildings, which flank the characteristic streets of the country, an interesting architecture has been developed according to the crushing of the grapes and the boiling of the must in the voluminous copper boilers.
This traditional wine is linked to the “Permanent Exhibition of equipment and utensils for cooked wine“, set up in the suggestive rooms adjacent to the cloister of the Church of San Francesco.
The Cotto Wine Festival, which takes place in August, attracts numerous visitors.
