Profile
Perched on a hill in the Fiastra valley, Ripe San Ginesio is a characteristic village of medieval origin located at 430 m. above sea level. From that era it still preserves the suggestive urban structure with narrow spiral streets, alleys interrupted by beaches and staircases, houses leaning against each other and joined together by high overpasses that will fascinate the tourist.
The inhabited center is perfectly in harmony with the surrounding environment, thanks also to the widespread environmental sensitivity. Emblem of this attention to the sustainable development of the territory and its regeneration, through the recovery of the unused spaces of the historic center making them energy efficient, is Borgofuturo, the festival of sustainability for the village. It is held in the summer and attracts established artists on the national scene.
Of note is the annual and important cultural event constituted by the “Ripe” Art Exhibition, in which many and important contemporary artists participate. This event contributed to the establishment of the Pinacoteca Comunale d’Arte Contemporanea, an extraordinary collection of modern art that includes over three hundred works of painting, sculpture and graphics.
Ripe San Ginesio is the San Ginesio DOC wine production area. To enhance the local food and wine, the “Fumi Cotti” event is organized in the autumn, which evokes peasant traditions, such as the pressing of grapes and the cooking of cooked wine, offering food stands with typical dishes and shows that animate the small but pretty village of Macera.
