PROFILE
Tenuta Piano di Rustano is located in the high Maceratesi Lands, in a hilly area where the cold climate of the Apennines that cross central Italy is partly mitigated by the proximity of the Adriatic Sea. The strong thermal excursions between day and night, characteristic at the altitude of 400 m.a.l., affect the biological activity of the vine and consequently the quality of the wines produced.
The land of the Estate, in addition to producing wine and honey, is also used for traditional agriculture. An excellent quality olive oil is produced. There are several wooded areas and a part is also cultivated with walnuts and wooden cherry trees.
It is located on top of a hill in a ventilated and sunny position on a sandy and particularly permeable soil, ideal conditions for the Malvasia grape variety that have made such longevity possible. Composed of rows 1.65 m apart, it is not possible to enter them with tractors.
All processing is therefore carried out strictly by hand, from the harvesting of the pruned branches to the copper and sulfur treatments, from the cutting of the grass to the harvest, which is carried out with the help of “carriers”, workers who transport the grapes by hand to the top of the rows where they are then loaded by the tractor.
The cellar is located on the ground floor of the Piano di Rustano building, inhabited by the Lebboroni family for 4 generations.
